  • Messages and media you send through our service. Where applicable, your messages are protected with end-to-end encryption so that only you and the people you communicate with can read them.
  • Contacts information (optional): if you choose to sync your address book, we collect your contacts’ phone numbers and, where available, their names to help you find friends who are already using RaaChat.
  • Device information and usage data: device model, operating system, app version, language, approximate region, IP address, and log data related to app performance and security.
  • Notification identifiers: push notification tokens and device identifiers so we can deliver message and call notifications to your device.
  • Location data (optional): if you choose to share location for specific features, we process this information only for those features.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain our messaging and calling services.
  • Help you find friends on RaaChat by matching your contacts’ phone numbers with registered users (only if you have chosen to sync your contacts).
  • Improve user experience, app performance, and functionality.
  • Ensure security, detect fraud, and prevent abuse of our service.
  • Deliver push notifications about new messages, calls, and important account activity (you can control notifications in your device settings).
  • Communicate with you about updates, changes to our services, and important policy information.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not use your address book or personal data for advertising or selling your information to third parties.

3. Contacts Sync and Friend Discovery

Syncing your contacts is optional. If you choose to allow contacts access, we will:

  • Read the phone numbers (and, where available, names) stored in your device address book.
  • Securely upload those phone numbers to our servers for the sole purpose of checking which of your contacts are already using RaaChat.
  • Show you which contacts are on RaaChat and help you start conversations with them.

We do not sell, rent, or share your contacts’ information with third parties. You can stop future contacts syncing at any time by revoking the Contacts permission in your device settings.

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

  • End-to-end encryption for your messages where supported.
  • Encryption in transit and at rest for stored data.
  • Regular security reviews, audits, and updates.
  • Strict access controls so only authorized staff can access limited data when necessary to operate the service.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell or trade your personal information. We may share limited information only in the following cases:

  • With your explicit consent for a specific purpose.
  • With trusted service providers (such as SMS and email providers) who help us deliver our services. They only receive the minimum information necessary and are required to protect it.
  • When required by law, legal process, or to respond to valid requests from public authorities.
  • To protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or others.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • You may choose not to provide optional information such as gender. It is not required to use the core chat features.
  • You can withdraw your consent for contacts syncing at any time by turning off Contacts access in your device settings. This will stop future syncing.
  • You can control notifications from your device’s settings and, where available, from within the app.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to provide our services and for other essential purposes such as complying with legal obligations and resolving disputes. When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, subject to any legal obligations to retain certain data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by other appropriate means. Your continued use of RaaChat after such changes means you accept the updated policy.
